Continual Rainfall causes the worst floods in India For 50 years : Continuous rainfall has caused serious flooding around New Delhi and thousands of acres of farmland are under water after a breach in the Dhansa embankment, about 30 miles from the capital, Naval divers have entered the Najafgarth drain in an effort to clear a passage for the vast volumes of water from the Punjab and Rajastan. Three people were drowned and thousands were marooned when the floods entered the suburbs of new Delhi. Photo shows These villagers from Bakeli seek refuge on higher ground on the Grand Trunk Read - and hope that the flood -water does not -ride any higher.
