Battle of Holborn... Coloured Man Keeps Police At Bay For An Hour.. Twenty six year old Jamaican Alan Chambers - holding a 3ft. spanner in his hand - barricaded himself in a workshop in Holborn today - and kept police at bay for an hour. He was eventually overpowered and taken to hospital. He was working as an engineer in the workshops of the Prudential Assurance engineers and works dept - when he suddenly became violent.
