Masterpiece of construction in the Soviet union. Volga ship pass through new Locks.: Construction of the lower shipping looks has been completed at the Kuibyshew Power Project in the Soviet Union. Work on the dock foundation was started in December 1952 - sine when 700,000 cubic metres of concrete was been used - and total weight of the reinforcements amount-to 40,000 tons and that os structural metal and equipment 7,5000 tons. The looks are operated automatically. the passage of ships is controlled by one man. A turn of a key at the central switchboard operates the 700-ton look gates.
