Description
The Eruption of Etna.: The eruption of Mount Etna shows no signs of abating. One major river of lava continued to roll down the southeast side of Etna towards Sant'Alfio, where for days townspeople have paraded images and relics of their patron, Saint Alphius in the hope of halting the approaching lava that has overwhelmed the creek Cubania, on the road from Zafferana and to Linguaglossa. The lava swept over the farmhouse and vineyards as sobbing inhabitants fled their homes. Photo shows Night Picture of the molten lava from Mount Etna on its relentless path.

Photo measures 10 x 6.75 inches.

Photo is dated 05-05-1971.
