Description
Ships Blaze In Channel After Collision. Two tankers carrying petrol cargoes collided in the English Channel today. And as members of the crew of one of the blazing ships - including a woman - leapt into the sea, a ten-feet high wall of flame swept across the waves. Many men are believed to have died in the blazing sea. The tankers were the 7,256-ton Panamanian vessel Buccaneer, bound from Rotterdam to Dover and the 10,788-ton Swedish tanker Johannishus, carrying 41-men and a woman. The Swedish ship had time to send only a brief S.O.S. before the crew jumped into the sea, and seconds later the ship exploded in a pillar of fire. Photo Shows:- Aerial view showing the blazing Swedish tanker Johannishus today.

Photo measures 8.25 x 6 inches.
