1962 Press Photo Rotterdam Tall Ships race

Race to Rotterdam starts: Thirty two vessels began the Torbay to Rotterdam Tall Ships race at 3pm yesterday when the Duke of Edinburgh fired the starter cannon from the deck of the Royal Yacht Britannia. The race had been delayed for three hours due to bad weather, and is due to end by Thursday. Photo shows L'Etoil the French entry a 227 ton top sail schooner seen on left, centre is a small Yacht unindentified and the Italian full rigged ship Americgo Vespucci seen at the start of the race.
