Largest Radio Telescope in the World - was shown to the press yesterday for the first time.Built at Jodrell back, Cheshire for Manchester University-at a cost of about £650,000 - it consists of a gigantic copper mesh bowl weighing 750 tons and suspended between two towers 180 ft.high.Funds for its construction were provided by the department of Scientific and Industrial Research and the Nuf~ield Foundation. The diameter of the Research and the Foundation.The diameter of the bowl is 25 ft. and height of the aerial masts is 621/2ft.
