Description
Sunlight and fresh air supply 75 percent of the heat energy required by this unique house recently constructed near Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Designed by nationally known architect Harry Wenning, the $150,000 house employs 1,200 square feet of solar collector and two General Electric heat pumps to reduce the heating bill for the 4,000 -square-foot structure to that of a cottage only one quarter as large. The special heating system was designed by scientists and engineers at the GE Research and Development Center in Schenectady, N.Y. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is providing $15,000 to cover the incremental costs of the solar energy heating system.

Photo measures 10 x 8 inches.

Photo is dated 12-12-1976.
