The Queen Presses The Button to Start Britain's Oil Flowing Ashore from The North Sea: Today the Queen symbolically inaugurated Britain's new oil era by pressing a button in a control room at Dyce, near Aberdeen, thus launching the flow of oil from the Forties Field in the North Sea to BP's Grangemouth refinery 237 miles away. Photo shows: Mr. Colin Smith, Senior Production Supervisor, points out a feature of the control system which monitors the oil from the Forties Field to the Grangemouth Refinery, to H.M. The Queen and Sir Eric Drake, Chairman of B.P.
