1978 Press Photo Powered Hanglider Electra Flyer of Albuquerque, New Mexico

Description
Powered Hangglider Electra Flyer of Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. is the only glider manufacturer marketing the Soar Master power pack PP-106, a 2-stroke 10 HP Chrysler engine combined with a hangglider. They are selling now their Olympus 180 ship (this picture) plus engine for $950.00, hardly more than some new high performance ships would cost without engines. This combination gives the pilot an alternative source of lift aid, the ability to take off flat ground and climb 4000 feet, or cruise 30 miles. The 2 quart plastic fuel tank capacity is good for approximately 20 minutes climb. In a 5 mph wind the foot-launch take-off requires only a few steps. In flight handling of the glider is almost as if the engine isn't there, and there is virtually no glider vibration. The unit is to be flown by advanced hang glider pilots only, who must have a rating of Hang IV, and no one should attempt to fly the PP 106-glider combination without instruction from a qualified school.
