Funeral of Slain Governor of Bermuda: Thousands of Bermudians yesterday silently line the route of march as the body of Bermuda's slain Governor, Sir Richard Sharples is borne on a gun carriage to the Royal Navy frigate HMS Sirius, tied up alongside Front Street in Bermuda's capital city of Hamilton. The coffin, draped in the Union Jack and bearing the ceremonial plumed hat of office, was taken by sea to the old capital, Captain Hugh Sayers, were buried in the churchyard of St. Peter's, oldest Anglican church in the western hemisphere. Offices and shops throughout the island were closed as the colony observed a day of national mourning.
