Description
Clock sold for £23 could have brought her £5,000: Mrs. Collette Levaux - sold a clock to her friend - Miss Sheila Lind - an antique dealer for £23 some little time ago. The clock had been given to her by her husband 22 years ago as a birthday present. Miss Lind had the clock in her shop window for six weeks and eventually sold it for £5 to an antique dealer who thought it was worth twice what he paid for it. He took the Clock (Sevres) to Sotheby's and put a reserve of £50 on it. Sotheby's told him it would bring about £250. Mr. H. Weinberg of the Bond Street Antique Galleries outbid all the others at the sale with a bid of £1, 650. Today Mr. Weinberg said that he would have gone up to £8,000 for the clock. He said it is the only one of its kind. He said ''I would have given Mrs. Levaux £5,000 for it''. Photo shows Miss Sheila Lind in her shop in London today holding a Sotheby's catalogue, showing a picture of a clock.

Photo measures 8 x 10 inches.
