1960 Press Photo Portrait By Franz Hals "Unknown Cavalier"

The "Unknown Cavalier" - Offered For Sale. Hitherto Unrecorded Portrait By Franz Hals: One of the items to be offred for sale at Sotheby's tomorrow - is a painting by Franz Hals creator of the famous "The Laughing Cavalier" - and which is known as the "Unknown Cavaalier".. Its existence has never been recorded by the biographers of Hals -and is claimed to be in perfect condition. The painting is being offered by Major David Warde - Aldam a 41 year old Northumberland Landowner. It has been in the possession of his family for more than 100 years. Experts state that the painting is one of the finest Dutch paintings ever - and it is expected that it will bring more than £48,000 - which is the present record for a Franz Hals painting.
