Description
Parents Of Cavey Island's "Miracle Baby" Are Found Dead In The Floods: The bodies of Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Foster have been found in the Floods of Canvey Island. They are the parents of Linda Foster the eight weeks old "miracle baby" who bobbed around for 12 hours in her carry-cot before she was rescued. The baby was taken to the Southend General Hospital wrapped up in damp clothes-along with hundreds of other survivors-and the Hospital's 21 year old metron Miss I.M. Syer took special charge of the baby. When she leaves the hospital Linda will be taken care of by her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stevens who live close by-and who luckily escaped in the floods. It is thought that after packing the baby in the carry cot parents just had time to get the front verandah of their bungalow where Mr. Foster held his wife above his head until he was drowned. She then sank-too exhausted to fight. This was deduced from the position of the bodies. Photo shows. Linda Foster the "Miracle baby"-orphan of the Canvey Island floods.
