Gog and Magog Are Born Again. In a studio at Welwyn Garden City sculptor David Evans is working on two pieces of reborn London history - the new statues of those legendary giants, Gog and Magog. It is just over 12 years since their predecessors - who had stood in Guildhall since 1708 - perished in flames when fire bombs rained down. Working from clay models, the sculptor has fashioned the two statues in limewood, each 9 f. 3ins high and weighing about 15 cwt. The statues are expected to be in their places in time for the Queen's Coronation visit to the City.
