Exhibition of Royal Plate. An exhibition of Royal Plate from Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, opens to the Public tomorrow at the Victoria and Albert Museum - the first time on public exhibition. Keystone Photo Shows:- Top, Vase and Cover, gilt. (height 20in.) 1828, John Bridge. One of a pair. The whole surface of the oviform body embossed with flowers and figures amongst acanthus foliage against a granulated ground. The design is based on a vase from a late 17th century silver "Garniture de Cheminee". Described in the William IV inventory as "Oriental shaped Scent Jar". Bottom: Dish, gilt. (diam. 27in) The central plaque, German; 17th. Century. The border 1819; maker's mark indecipherable. The plaque embossed with Roman warriors hunting a lion and a stag. The border embossed with flowers; 19th. century work in the Dutch manner of the mid-17th century.
