Polish oil well fire brought under control.: After 32 days a raging inferno at the Krzywoploty oilfield in Northern Poland has been brought under control. teams of hundreds of specialist firefighters from Poland. Hungary and the Soviet Union have been struggling with water cannons and foam to extinguish the disastrous blow-outs. At times flames from the blazing well scared 150 metres into the sky and burned at a temperature of 1000 degrees centigrade.
