1956 Press Photo Mosaics at Sicily's "Valley of the Temples"-Agrigento, Sicily

Mosaics at Sicily's "Valley of the Temples" : Important new mosaics were recently uncovered during excavation work in the Archaeological zone of Agrigento, Sicily, in the so-called "Valley of the Temples" They appear to be remains of a Roman city which was destroyed by fire, or some other catastrophe of nature. Ex~~~ation work is being financed by the Sicilian authorities, and is being carried out by the Superintendent of Anti~uities. The temples so far uncovered on the site are illuminated at night for the benefit of visitors. Photo shows A mosaic in the centre of which is a representation of a door.
