1969 Press Photo pupils enjoy newly installed carpet at Prior Weston School

School With Fitted Carpets The new Inner London Education Authority primary school, Prior Weston, which will serve the City's great Barbican development, was formally opened today by Alderman Sir Peter Studd, a former Sheriff of the City of London. Prior Weston is built on the open plan - modified however so that teachers can curtain off some areas for quiet group activities. For the 5-7 year olds there are three teaching areas with an enclosed play-space giving on to the assembly hall. For the 7-11s the four teaching arenas are in pairs, each linked to a library through areas are in pairs, each linked to a library through a generous circulation and exhibiting space. Many of the teaching areas have wall-to-wall carpeting. Prior Weston opened to its pupils a year ago and has 280 places. There are now 110 children on the roll. The school building cost £104,000, and furniture and equipment a further £8,000, Photo Shows:- With the comfort of the carpeted floor these children relax while doing their lessons at the school today.
