Tommy Wanted a Scooter - but dad Bought Him a Traction Engine Instead: former's son wanted a motor scooter for his 16th. 700 acre farm nr. Little Downham, Cambridge shire - bought him a traction engine instead. It will be a year before he can take a test to drive his traction engine on the roads - A car licence is all he need Tommy- who has named his engine "The Pride of the Fens" ays there are plenty of roads on the farm on which he can drive his engine - which - incidentally will only travel about a mile for a hudredweight of coal. Anyway he hopes to have a car by the time he is 17 Photo shows Tommy Mott with his traction engine - on the farm yesterday.
