Description
Children attend a Birthday Party - to match measles. Doctor Hands Round the Jellies; Dr. Charles Stevens (47) director of the National Spastics Society says that if a woman has German measles when she is having a baby there is a risk of the baby being born a spastic. He does not want his daughters (he has five) to run the risk when they grow up so he plans for them to catch the complaint now while it is safe. Colleen Dicks daughter of Sqd. Leader Terrence Dicks - has German Measles so when the Sqd Leader heard of Dr. Stevens plan to give the children the complaint he invited the children to Colleen's birthday party at Cookham, Berks., yesterday. Three of the Steven's Children are away but Antonia went along to the party with her brother Mark (6). Photo Shows Dr. Charles Stevens passes the jellies around to children at the party yesterday. They are L-R: Mark Stevens (6) who has not got measles; Clive Dicks (5) who has had measles; Colleen Dicks (8) who has measles and Antonia Stevens (*) who wants to catch the measles.
