Police Guards Killed In Aldo Moro Kidnapping. Five Italian policemen who formed the escort for Aldo Moro, president of the Christian Democratic Party, were ambushed and shot to death by Red Brigade terrorists in a Rome Street last week. They then kidnapped the Italian Statesman who has been the Italian Prime Minister five times. Moro was on his way to church where he went each morning about 9 a.m. The fate of Moro is unknown after he was pulled from his car and pushed into another belonging to the terrorists, and it was believed that he was wounded in the shooting. Following, news of the kidnapping, Rome went on strike in protest, all shops closed and the Post Offices of the City stopped service. It is believed the Red Brigade wanted Moro to exchange for 20 of their members on trial in Turin for terrorist acts.
