Description
Fans Arrive Early For The Controversial Pop Festival: At an old airfield on the outskirts of the sprawling village of Watchfield, Oxfordshire, the first of what the locals describe as "them weirdies" have already staked out patches of grass that will be their homes for the nine-day free pop festival which starts on Saturday August 23rd. The site was chosen as an alternative to Windsor Great Park where last year's festival ended in fighting between the fans and the police. Photo shows The Rev. John Wade, Vicar of Shrivenham with Watchfield, watching dinner coming to the boil at the camp where the cauldron will soon be feeding an army of pop fans.

Photo measures 10 x 8 inches.

Photo is dated 08-08-1975.
