"Christ Preaches At Cookham Regatta" - Unfinished: Sir Stanley Spencer R.A. the artist whose work created much controversy - died in hospital at Taplow Bucks, early yesterday. Much of his work, pictorial conceptions of religious subjects brought him both much praise and criticism. Photo shows One of the unfinished paintings by Sir Stanley Spencer - at his Cookham Studio - entitled "Christ preaching at Cookham regatta" which shows Christ in a straw hat, and which is believed may have been one of his greatest works.
