1966 Press Photo Kisane Davis, and portrait of self by Jean Valade

Description
A Remarkable Coincidence. Look first at the eyes. In both the girl and the subject of the painting they are large, with a sweetly-rounded almond shape. Regard the noses, they are straight, each with a soft, delicate flare. Look now at the mouths. They are firm, and generous. On both the faces there is the same oval shape. Only the hairstyle is slightly changed. The artist, you would say, has done his job well. He has captured both the physical beauty and the fleeting mood of the model. A remarkable likeness. You would be wrong. The girl is Kisane Davis, a Sydney, Australia, photographic model. The painting is called La Rose Rouge, by the contemporary French artist, Jean Valade. Kisane had never seen the painting - nor heard of the artist - until she spotted it in an exhibition of French fine arts at Prouds, where it is on sale for £300. A remarkable likeness. No. A remarkable coincidence.

Photo measures 8.25 x 6 inches.

Photo is dated 09-09-1966.
