20 Die in Yugoslav Earthquake. 20 people were killed and more than 400 injured when an earthquake devasted the central Yugoslavian town of Banja Luke. The earthquake on Monday , was the climax of a series of 13 which shook central and north-eastern Yugoslavia starting on Sunday afternoon. The death toll was kept down by the fact that most of the inhabitants of the town spent the night and morning in the open. Photo shows one of the open - air medical centres in a park is Banja Luka, shortly after the earthquake. The town hospital of some 1,300 beds was completely destroyed in the quake, so the injured and those previously evacuated from the hospital (after the first wave) are being treated and extended help in provisional field hospitals.

Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
