Shipowners play causes sensation in Greece.: The latest play by Greek playwright and director Dimitrius Kolatos has caused a sensation in his country. "Shipping Magnates" is a series of sketches which portrays the shipowners as gangsters heavily involved in drug trafficking, insurance frauds, sexual blackmail, murder and other shady dealings. Old and obsolete ships are heavily insured and sunk deliberately, the play implies, Nudity and violence are constant features in the corrupt dealings of the Mafia-style magnates. An attractive female shipowner is seen using her seductive charms to acquire her first ship from a nameless Arab businessman. Speculation that the part of the seductress alludes to a real life shipping heiress, is at the centre of the controversy sorrounding the play, Kolatos, however, is no stranger to controversy. Last year his play illustrating the see my side of the Bishop's private life caused a public outcry in Greece.
