Thirteen Houses - Two Shops Swallowed By 120ft. Crater In Lancashire street: A "creeping earthquake" is swallowing houses - one after another - in the Lancashire town of Farnworth. By last night thirteen houses and two shops have a been wrecked - and more than 350 people have been evacuated - but nobody was hut.. The crater was started by a fracture in a sewage drain 10ft. down. It is of the land collapse would increase - the whole area lives in fear of their homes disappearing.
