1966 Press Photo Soldier assists at site of earthquake in Turkey

Earthquake scenes from Turkey: Original pictures just received, show scenes from Varto, which took the full force of the earthquake which struck provinces in Eastern Turkey last Friday, and which killed 2,300 people and rendered 70,000 homeless. Photo shows The Turkish Army immediately came to the aid of the disaster area. Young soldiers and recruits were sent to assist the inhabitants of Varto. They met with despair and helplessness and frequently were helpless themselves in the face of so much misery.
