Thirteen Houses - Two Shops Swallowed by 120ft. Crater in Lanchashire Street. A "creeping earthquake" is swallowing houses, one after another, in the Lanchashire Town of Farnworth. By last night thirteen houses and two shops have been wrecked and more than 350 people have been evacuated but nobody was hurt. The crater was started by a fracture in sewage drain 19ft. down. It is feared that if there is more rain, the rate and area of the land collapsed would increase the whole area lives in fear of their homes disappearing. Keystone Photo Shows: View of the wreckage of some of the homes, during the "creeping earthquake" at Farnworth, Lanes.

Photo measures 6 x 8.25 inches.
