1959 Press Photo Peter Degnan of the Royal Marines waled 110 mile in 36 hrs

"Tell it to the Marines". He walks 110 miles in 36 hrs. 30 mins.: Twenty four year old Peter Degnan of the Royal Marines - walked 100 miles from Pocle Dorset to Charing Cross, London in 36 hours 30 minutes - thus breaking the record of the American Marine who walked 104.8 miles in 40 hours 30 mins. He was accompanied on the walk by fellow Marines as peacemakers followed by a truck containing a doctor and two cooks. Photo shows Peter Degnan wipes off the perspiration at the end of his great walk - at Charing Cross yesterday.
