1982 Press Photo Japanese Self Defense Force 1st Airborne Brigade Training

The Japanese self defense force has one Airborne Brigade, the first Airborne Brigade, stationed at camp Narashino near Narita Airport Norbi of Tokyo. This is where the brigade has its airborne training school. Most of the cadets are just out of high school and the course is given through out the year. The Course takes five weeks and in the fifth week the cadets complete five parachute jumps to earn their wings. The Japanese airborne infantry jumps from a Japanese jet place called A C-1 Chugata Yusoki ( Medium Range Training). Cadets making their fourth and fifth final jump to complete their five week course. Credit : Brian F Alpert
