September 15th 1976 1,8000 Africans held in clean-up - More than 1,800 Africans have been arrested in South Africa, in addition to the hundreds arrested since unrest began in June. In Durban 285 African pupils were arrested for starting a protest march in Cape Town. Whites are apprehensive regarding stay at home strikes, and concerned over the growth of vigilantes attitudes among the whites.
