P.C. SHOT DEAD - TWO WOUNDED - THEN MAN IS ARRESTED. THE MURDERED POLICEMAN... Armed police hunting a gunman who murdered a policeman and wounded a police Inspector and another Constable - at Oxenholme, Westmorland - yesterday - shot and arrested a man in a gun battle near the Station. The dead man is P.C. GEORGE RUSSEL (36) and the wounded men are INSPECTOR ALFRED HARRISON AND p.c.j. ARCHIBALD - the latter being in a serious condition. KEYSTONE PHOTO SHOWS: P.C.J. ARCHIBALD - who was shot and who is said to be in a serious condition after an emergency operation.
