Metropolitan Police Recruit Civilian Tow-Away Men: As from this week Metropolitan Policemen in Central London will be assisted by a squad of specially trained civilian vehicle Removal Officers to drive or tow away offending vehicles, Each man will wear a special uniform and working under the direction of police officers their duties will include the removal of vehicles for all types of traffic offences. Photo Shows: Mr. Eric Smeed, one of the new civilian vehicle removal officers, wearing his new uniform, is seen with a large box of keys with which they can open and start almost any vehicle.
