"Teachers For Peace" Conference Opens. Reading Letters From Delegates Not Allowed To Attend: The two day conference of "Teachers for Peace" opened this afternoon at Holborn Hall.. Many delegates who were to have attended - were refused permission to enter the country - at the orders of the Home Secretary - Sir David Maxwell Fyfe.. Photo Shows: Miss M.Philbert secretary of the "Teachers for Peace" - who declares that the organisation is not communist-sponsored - reads letters from some of the foreign delegates - who were refused entry into the country - for the conference.
