Human voice - produced artificially: A "device for production of synthetic speech" has been completed by the Institute for applied Physics of the Christian-Albrechts -University of Kiel after five years work. The device - which is called by the creators of same "Wocoder" pronounces clearly words which have not been recorded by human speech but have been produced by a "speeking-machine" electronically. The aim for the finalization of this device - the "Wocoder" - is, that this machine will translate the words of a speeker right away - and this loud and clear - into another language. Photo Shows: The creator of the speeking-machine and in charge of the institute, Prof. Krobel in front of the "Wocoder".

Photo measures 6.75 x 6 inches.

Photo is dated 10-15-1957.
