Radar Scanner To Aid Weather Forecasting.. Apparatus Installed At The Met. Office: The Decca Type 41 storm warning radar scanner is now being used by the London Forecasting section of the Meteorological office - as an experiment, The apparatus displays echoes from heavy rain or storms within a radius of approx 150 miles - cost ~5,000 to install and is expected to increase efficiency in weather forecasting. Photo Shows: Mr. T.L.M. Hunt a Member of the met. staff - seen wit the apparatus which gives a true rain or storm echo withing a radius of approx 150 miles - at the Met office today.
