Ceremonial morning colours at Northwood to Mark Nato's 20th. Anniversary.: Ceremonial morning colours was held at the NATO martitime headquarters at Northwood, Middlesex, this morning, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. Heading the parade were Admiral Sir John Bush, Allied Commander-in-chief Channel, and Air Marshal John Lapsley, Commander Allied Maritime Air Forces Channel. Admiral Bush is one of the three major Nato commanders, the other two being General Lyman Lemnitzer, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, and Admiral Ephraim P. Holmes, Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic. Channel Command covers the English Channel and Southern North Sea, and in addition Northwood is the headquarters of the Nato Easter Atlantic Area, which is a major subordinate command of the Allied Command Atlantic. Seven nations are represented in the Channel and Eastern Atlantic Commands - Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Iceland, Netherlands, United Kingdom and United States and today, the flags of those countries were hoisted in turn at Northwood, while their respective national antheme were played.
