1959 Press Photo jeweller's shop in London where robbery took place

Shots Fired in Jeweller's Hold-up - Gunmen, wearing stooking meeks, shot their way out of jeweller's shop in London's famous Burlington Aroade, Picoadilly, last night. Mr. Bob Baker, head beadle of the Aroade, had a narrow escape when one of the gunmen fired at his as he tried to her their exit from the shop. The raidorn ran to a waiting car and drove off - but were held up in a traffic jam, and thee gunn en got out of it and run. A policemen threw himself at one of the men and brought him down, as the other two raced off across Piccadilly. As they did so one of them dropped the stolen jewellery, which was in a paper bag. Another shot was fired during the chase. Photo Shows:- A Policemen stands outside the raided jewellers shop - Barnett's - after the raid. Behind the shop bars can be seen Miss Winifred Barnett, a director of the fire, who was in the ship at the time of the hold-up.
