Progress On Downing Street Reconstruction: A Press view was held this morning to show progress and amount of work required in the present reconstruction of No. 10 and No. 11 Downing Street - rebuilding of the Treasury - and rebuilding of No. 12. Downing Street - which was burned down in 1879. The estimated cost of the work is in the region of `1,600,000. Photo shows The Cabinet Room at No. 10. Downing Street - under Construction today. The character of the building is to be retained - as closely as possible.
