Living In The Shadow Of An M.I. Flyover.: Mrs. Eva Peace is living under the shadow of the new M.I. flyover at Five Ways, Mill Hill. Her home, a flat in Gilda Court, is only 15 feet from the sweeping curve of the flyover, which, at the end of stage two, will carry the Great Northway traffic to the M.I. and the Watford Way. The eight foot high aides of the flyover block out the bright afternoon sunshine. "It used to shine into the flat all days, said Mrs. Peace. "When winter really comes we'll need the electric light all the time." A person standing on the flyover could hold a conversation with Mr. and Mrs. Peace - in their dining room. Her husband is Mr. Alan Peace, 40, an underground station foreman and they have three daughters. Their two-bedroomed flat which they are buying cost `3,850 when they moved in three years ago. Central heating had been installed for `308, and ground rent is `13 a year and rates `83 10s. "We have worked and saved all our lives for this and it has been a waste of time", said Mrs. Peace. The garden lawn and the trees which screened the railway have long since gone. ' We would need `4,500 to cover our outlay, and who would offer us that? Mr. Peace asked. Noise made by workmen's sirens, bulldozers and other mechanical equipment is already a big problem. "When traffic is going by all day it won't bear thinking about", said Mrs. Peace.
