1956 Press Photo restored roof section at the JerusalemChamber Westminster Abbey

Restoration of the Jerusalem Chamber - Westminster Abbey. Dr. Alan Don the Dean of Westminster held a press conference in the Jerusalem Chamber, Westminster Abbey to mark the restoration of the Chamber. Work continues on the rest of the Abbey - and it has bee said that as time goes by more and more tasks are found at the Abbey - and it is expected that it will be at least twenty years before the outside of the Abbey will be free from scaffolding. Photo shows looking up at the newly restored roof section at the Jerusalem Chamber today - showing the inscription "R" for Richard II - and "NL'' for Nicholas Lylington the builds of the Abbey at the period.
