Cops and protesters battle in Foley Sq. By Brett Alexander and Stephen Gayle: Police and demonstrators exchanged blows with nightsticks and fists today during a protest in Foley Square over cutbacks in federal unemployment benefits. The melee broke out at about 2 p.m. when police started pulling down tents the demonstrators had erected in a park across from the Federal Courthouse.
