Description
Italy will come to London Piccadilly Circus if a bold new redevelopment scheme announced today is accepted by the Ministry of Housing. Britain's top town planner, Sir William Holford, was adapted two features from the Italian scene for the Piccadilly of the future. First, a piazza, covering almost an acre in the center of the circus. Second, the famous campanile of St. Marks, Venice, as he proposed a similar vertical feature as the focal point of the centre. Another feature would be an 80ft high advertising screen. Photo Shows: A model of the proposal showing some of the main features of the scheme.

Photo measures 10 x 8 inches.

Photo is dated 4-4-1962.
