Description
The 4,000 ton Polish ship Jaroslaw drabowski, with Dr. Joseph Cort, the US lecturer who was refused to stay in Britain, on board, was halted off Woolwich Point after sailing from the Pool of London at 1.35 am. Also aboard was 24 year old antoni Klimowitz, who stowed away at the Polish port of Cydnia in the hope os escaping to England. He was found exhausted when the ship was unloaded at Mark Brown Wharf. More than 100 angry Poles demonstrated near the ship's berth last night before sailed. In the lights reflected across the water from the floodlit Tower of London, the Poles gathered at the gates to the wharf. They argued with the police, and climbed a 10 foot high wall to try and rescue the stowaway. Photo Shows: Some of the Polish refugees demonstrating outside the dock gates tonight (Friday)
