February 9th â 1976 Prince Charles takes over his first command of the 360-ton HMS Bronington at Rosyth â Prince Charles today took his first command in the Royal Navy as skipper of the 360-ton HMS Bronington at Rosyth, Fife. The Bronington was converted to a minehunter in 1964 and has a shipâs company of 39. Photo Shows: Prince Charles, wearing the uniform of a Naval lieutenant, is greeted by the retiring Commander, Lieutenant-Commander Harry Bates, as he arrives on board HMS Bronington at Rosyth Naval Base, Fife, today.
