General Assembly Opens Thirtieth Regular Session. Admits Three States To United Nations Membership: The General Assembly, opening its thirtieth regular session this afternoon, elected Gaston Thorn, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Luxembourg, as the President, and admitted three new Member States to the United Nations: Cape Verde,Sao Tome and Principe, and Monambique. The Organization now has 141 Members. The Assembly adopted without a vote separate draft resolutions calling for the admission of three new Members to the United Nations, and the President declared that the three States - all former Territories under Portuguese administration - had been admitted unanimously.
