1960 Press Photo Refugees From Congo Arrive in Port Kigoma

Refugees from Congo Arrive in Port Kigoma: The first batch of 464 Belgian refugees from the Congo, arrived at Port Kigoma on Lake Tanganyika. A special train was placed at the disposal of the refugees who comprised mostly Belgians, but also included Greeks, Italians and Britishers. The train halted at a siding adjacent to Ukonga camp 10 miles from Dar~es Salaam where the refugees were being accommodated. Photo shows The type of houses in which the refugees were being accommodated on their arrival.
