Queen Victoria's Railway Saloon Passes Through London Streets To Exhibition. Queen Victoria's railway saloon, built in 1869 by the former London and North Western Railway Company, and one of the most notable transport relics preserved by the British Transport Commission, made a short but novel journey through London streets today, when it was taken to Earl's Court to be shown at the Furniture Exhibition from Jan. 28th to Feb. 7th The coach had made the main part of its journey by rail from its temporary store at the British Railway's Works at Wolverton, Bucks, and on arrival at Brompton Fulham railway sidings it was lifted off the rail wheels and transferred to special bogies fitted with road wheels for its journey to Earl's court.
